Author Notes

Nick Hunter has written more than 30 books for young people. He has a degree in Modern History and specializes in writing about history and social studies. Nick enjoys all aspects of pop culture, particularly music from the 1950s to the present day. Before becoming an author, Nick worked in educational publishing for many years. He lives in Oxford, UK with his wife and two sons.

Gr 2-4-Each volume of this visually appealing series is presented with well-reproduced, captioned photos, text, and fact boxes. The font is on the large side, and students will find the writing style accessible. The books place the subjects' lives in the historical period of their time (George Washington Carver, for example, discusses the inventor within the context of slavery and racism). However, because all of these subjects are commonly found in other series, these titles aren't must-haves. Solid, but not exceptional. (c) Copyright 2014.
