Summary:

Miss Marple faces her greatest challenge yet when she receives a request from an old friend, the recently deceased Mr. Rafiel, to investigate a "possible crime." But to complicate the matters, his instructions don't tell her what the crime is. Instead, she has been told to look for clues on a mystery bus tour, a trip Mr. Rafiel's instructions says might be dangerous.

Portrayed on previous occasions by such actresses as Margaret Rutherford, Helen Hayes, Angela Lansbury, and Joan Hickson, Agatha Christie's indomitable amateur sleuth Miss Jane Marple reappeared in the form of Geraldine McEwan on this TV series, produced for the United Kingdom's ITV1. Endeavoring to be totally faithful to the original source material, the series offered as its first four episodes lavish adaptations of the Agatha Christie novels The Vicarage (1930), The Body in the Library (1942), A Murder is Announced (1950), and 4:50 From Paddington (1957). These episodes were originally complemented by a behind-the-scenes documentary, which has been included in the American TV syndication package. Jane Marple would make a good librarian. Not only does she seem genuinely to enjoy people, but she is also an expert at ferreting out information. As the latest Miss Marple, veteran actress Julia McKenzie contributes her considerable acting skills to this new series, and, of course, the tweedy sleuth in sensible shoes manages to find the truth-and the murderer-in each of these four Christie adaptations (A Pocket Full of Rye, Murder Is Easy, They Do It with Mirrors, and Why Didn't They Ask Evans?). Dead bodies, long-held resentments, and dark secrets are the bread and butter of the stories, and Christie fans won't be disappointed. Extras include actress/author biographies and a photo gallery.
