PreS-Gr 1-Bateman recaptures the rhymed, silly fun of her Farm Flu (Albert Whitman, 2001) with a pair of green dinosaur siblings who track clues to Dad's arrival home, then lovingly ambush him in his armchair. Readers easily team up for the search based on hints like root-beer stains and an upstairs thud. The author, however, takes literary license to accommodate meter by inventing a word (newspaperdactyl) that is neither explained nor depicted in Huang's large-figured cartoons on double-page spreads. Still, the nonsense refrain "Hunka-cha, hunka-cha, rooba" will make for interactive storytimes.
