Summary

In the film version of Serenity (Universal, 2005), outlaw Malcolm Reynolds and his crew revealed to the entire universe the crimes against humanity undertaken by the sinister government organisation, The Alliance. Leaves on the Wind, the official follow-up to the film, finds the crew hiding out since becoming the world's most wanted. River uncovers more secrets, leaving these former Browncoats on a dangerous mission against the Alliance that will, with luck, bring the world together again. This latest addition to the Firefly saga will delight fans.

Author Notes

Zachary Adam "Zack" Whedon is an American screenwriter and comic book writer. He graduated in 2002 with a film degree from Wesleyan University where he served as president of the Eclectic Society. Zack is from a family of writers: he is the son of screenwriter Tom Whedon, grandson of screenwriter John Whedon, and the brother of screenwriter/musician Jed Whedon and producer/director/writer Joss Whedon.
His first professional work in television was as a production assistant on his brother's series Angel . Whedon joined the crew of the HBO western drama Deadwood as an assistant to executive producer David Milch for the first season in 2004. The series was created by Milch and focused on a growing town in the American West. Whedon returned as Milch's assistant for the second season in 2005. He also became a writer for the third and final season in 2006 when he co-wrote the episode Amateur Night with writer's assistant Nick Towne. Whedon and the writing staff were nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for Outstanding Drama Series at the February 2007 ceremony for their work on the third season.
He also wrote and acted in an episode of Milch's next series John from Cincinnati .
Alongside his brothers Joss and Jed, he co-created and co-wrote the parody musical Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog . Recently, he has worked on the FOX science-fiction series Fringe and the AMC drama Rubicon . The author lives in Los Angeles, CA..

Browncoats, the extraordinarily loyal fans of Joss Whedon's brilliant sf TV series Firefly and its feature film follow-up Serenity, celebrated the announcement of this sequel to the film. Since their broadcast of secret information about an Alliance experiment that caused the deaths of millions and created the ultraviolent space marauders known as Reavers, Capt. Mal Reynolds and the crew of the spaceship Serenity have been lying low for months, while the Alliance denies everything and searches for them. But when widowed first mate Zoe's baby is born, complications force them to leave her at an Alliance-controlled hospital. Meanwhile, tough young rebel Bea, a leader in the New Resistance movement inspired by Serenity's broadcast, hires mercenary Jayne Cobb (who has left Serenity) to track down Mal, whom she hopes will become their leader. Jeanty's likenesses are not spot-on, but Zack (brother of Joss) captures the crew's personalities and speech patterns well-and the story is a crowd-pleaser, featuring major developments in the lives of beloved characters and the return of two of the most charismatic antagonists in the series. -VERDICT Recommended wherever Browncoats live, which is probably everywhere.-S.R. © Copyright 2015.
