School Library Journal Review
Gr 3-4-An underplotted, awkwardly written sequel to Ink Drinker (1998) and A Straw for Two (1999, both Delacorte). News that their comfortable old cemetery is about to be moved to tighter quarters sends libidinous young print-vampire Odilon out to find new digs for himself, his feisty paramour Carmilla, their undead master Draculink, and the large collection of books that is their reserve food supply. Arguments and hand-wringing ensue, punctuated by ungraceful turns of phrase, leading to a sudden, hyperconvenient solution: a vast, somehow previously undiscovered library just adjacent that not only has one of Draculink's bookish victims/admirers as its security guard, but also has a reconstructed cemetery down in the basement populated by more ink-suckers. Not even Matje's tidy, somber, tongue-in-cheek art can rescue this uninspired episode.-John Peters, New York Public Library (c) Copyright 2010. Publisher's Weekly Review
"Ink-thirsty Odilon, Carmilla and Draculink continue to quench their eclectic taste in this sequel to The Ink Drinker," said PW. "Matje's skewed perspectives provide humorous details as the trio seeks a new cemetery after construction uproots their final resting place." Ages 8-12. (Sept.) (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
