Author Notes

Born in Manila, Philippines, Isabel Roxas is an author/illustrator, ceramicist and micro- publisher. Isabel has illustrated several books for young readers, including Goodnight Songs (Sterling Books), Let Me Finish! (Disney-Hyperion) and Day at the Market (Adarna House), winner of the Philippine National Book Award. Isabel's work has been recognized by American Illustration, HOW Magazine and 3x3 Magazine of Contemporary Illustration

Gr 3--5--Team Pom members Agnes, Ruby, and Roberta decide their summer mission: being junior naturalists at the American Museum of Natural History. The locale also draws the attention of C.A.O.S.'s dodo overlord Steve, who plans to complete his Dodo Replicator 3000 and bring about the Age of the Dodos. While this plan might spell an end to Steve's "wretched, no-fun, stinkypants year," Team Pom comes to humanity's rescue and foils Steve's plans yet again. An epilogue suggests a new avian villain on the rise. Three BIPOC leads in an urban Queens setting makes Roxas's latest an absolute standout among comedic graphic novels. The rustic palette and clever use of double-page panel sequences offer visual distinction to this laugh-out-loud romp. Back matter includes a steamed bun recipe. VERDICT Team Pom's action-packed high jinks are not to be missed. For maximum silliness, read alongside book one.
