Gr 3 Up-Tackling painting, sculpture, paper craft, photography, and more, this art-related activity book asks readers to respond to the world around them by creating. The authors address the history of each technique, provide an example of a contemporary piece of art, and then offer an example of a project that readers can create. The instructions leave room for experimentation, and suggested materials are easy to find, often incorporating everyday household objects. The layout is inviting, with text in a simple black font against crisp white pages, allowing the brightness of the illustrations and photos to pop. This is an inspiring introduction to the concept of art as a vehicle to comment on or question the world. The projects encourage collaboration and tactile experimentation through a wide variety of bold and fun activities that are simple enough for children to explore on their own.
