Watch Out For That Outhouse Conconully Each year, more than 100 contestants show up from near and far to race about a dozen homemade outhouses down a gently sloping one-block course. There are, of course, some rules for what constitutes a race-ready outhouse. Each non-motorized, non-steering privy entered in the race must: * Be made out of wood or wood by-products; * Be mounted on two skis (no metal or steel skis allowed, but fiberglass and plastic is fine); * Have 3-sides and a full roof; * Be at least 5 feet tall and 2 1/2 feet by 2 1/2 feet square and; * Be equipped with a toilet seat and toilet paper hanger. Sound like fun? The Outhouse Races are held each year on the third Saturday in January. Conconully is located about 20 miles northwest of the towns of Omak and Okanogan.
