Author Notes

Marilynn James loves to spend her days watching cartoons with her favorite sock monkey. Sometimes she even gets to write books about them!

Miki Yamamoto has had a passion for creating art ever since she was given her first sketch book at a young age. This led her to Long Beach State University, where she graduated with a B.F.A in illustration. She has worked as an artist for Hallmark Cards, Disney, and Amscan Party. She also has been given the opportunity to illustrate many books that feature the important themes of diversity and inclusion. Currently, she resides in Southern California with her wigglebutt Aussie, Bella.

This positive proclamation of friendship invites young listeners to lean in, where a soccer team of players with skin colors from dark brown to very pale congratulate one another on a good game. Another scene takes place in a diversely populated classroom where three children build with blocks; one child has an arm in a cast and the others help. VERDICT The generous attitudes and reinforcing rhymes will rally children up through early elementary years to get involved, stay kind, and to tune in to the needs of others.
