Author Notes

Peter Stein, the author of Cars Galore, Bugs Galore, and Toys Galore, has been a highly successful writer, editor, designer, and art director for more than twenty years. He is the author of seven gift books, including Age Is Nothing: Attitude Is Everything and Fine Friends: A Little Book About You and Me. He lives in Petaluma, California.

Bob Staake, the illustrator of Cars Galore and its follow-up titles, has written and/or illustrated more than fifty books, including The Red Lemon, a New York Times Book Review Best Illustrated Children's Book of the Year. His work has graced the cover of the New Yorker more than a dozen times, and his November 17, 2008, Barack Obama victory cover was named the Best Magazine Cover of the Year by Time magazine. He lives on Cape Cod, in Massachusetts.

PreS-K-Following up on Cars Galore and Toys Galore, this book is an entertaining romp through the world of trucks. In bouncy Seussian rhyme, Stein describes vehicles of all sizes, shapes, and abilities, and Staake showcases them on brilliantly bold and action-packed spreads. The lively, detailed, cartoony illustrations are paired humorously with a spirited, page-turning rhythmic narrative, making this title an excellent read-aloud or one-on-one choice. "Strong truck, weak truck,/hide-and-seek truck./Rock truck, dirt truck, Yum-DESSERT truck!" Truck-obsessed children will be entertained for many for re-readings. VERDICT Pair this title with Richard Scarry's "Things That Go" books or Hope Vestergaard's Digger, Dozer, Dumper for unmatched imaginative, detail-rich reading fun.
