Summary
In the long-awaited sequel to Fablehaven, the dragons who have been kept at the dragon sanctuaries no longer consider them safe havens, but prisons and they want their freedom. The dragons are no longer our allies... .
In the hidden dragon sanctuary of Wyrmroost, Celebrant the Just, King of the Dragons, plots his revenge. He has long seen the sanctuaries as prisons, and he wants nothing more than to overthrow his captors and return the world to the Age of Dragons, when he and his kind ruled and reigned without borders. The time has come to break free and reclaim his power.
No one person is capable of stopping Celebrant and his dragon horde. It will take the ancient order of Dragonwatch to gather again if there is any chance of saving the world from destruction. In ancient times, Dragonwatch was a group of wizards, enchantresses, dragon slayers, and others who originally confined the majority of dragons into sanctuaries. But nearly all of the original Dragonwatch members are gone, and so the wizard Agad reaches out to Grandpa Sorenson for help.
As Kendra and Seth confront this new danger, they must draw upon all their skills, talents, and knowledge as only they have the ability to function together as a powerful dragon tamer. Together they must battle against forces with superior supernatural powers and breathtaking magical abilities.
How will the epic dragon showdown end? Will dragons overthrow humans and change the world as we know it?

School Library Journal Review
Gr 3-6-The dragons who were confined to sanctuaries in the celebrated "Fablehaven" series are now restless, and the safe havens feel more like prisons. Celebrant, the King of the Dragons, has pledged to free them and bring back the Age of Dragons. His attacks have caused Wyrmroost's defenses to weaken, as have all other hidden sanctuaries that protect the world from danger. The last remaining members of Dragonwatch call upon 13-year-old Seth and 15-year-old Kendra to guard the sanctuary of Wyrmroost, as it is believed that human caretakers can help strengthen the sanctuary's defenses. The teens face great opposition from their former allies, the dragons, and also from their subjects in Wyrmroost, who are skeptical that two youngsters can succeed where all others have failed, even though they are known to be dragon slayers. Calm, logical Kendra and reckless, wisecracking Seth must work and stay together to find a way to hold the dragons in check. Seth and Kendra have many exciting and dangerous confrontations with fantastic beasts, but they are resourceful and brave, and there is never a doubt that the heroes will triumph. The action moves slowly, especially in the beginning of the book, as much of the backstory is explained and characters reintroduced through dialogue. VERDICT Sure to please loyal "Fablehaven" readers and may be appreciated by fantasy and adventure lovers who have advanced beyond the "Magic Tree House" series.-MaryAnn Karre, Binghamton, NY © Copyright 2017. Jubaya chittered. "Demons and dragons have an ancient rivalry. If world domination is a game, the battle of Zzyzx created a major shift in the balance of power." "What can the dragons do?" Kendra asked. "They went back to their sanctuary." "Yes, they did," Jubaya agreed, "but armed with new power. Heed my words, Kendra Marie Sorenson. I have studied world events for many millennia. A new age of dragons is about to dawn, and there are few who will be ready or willing to stop them." "You want to help me stop the dragons?" Kendra asked. "Without the backing of the dragons, you would not have stopped the demons. Should you end up fighting the dragons, most demons will see you as an ally and view the fall of Gorgrog through more generous eyes." "Why would I fight dragons?" Kendra had barely survived her brief stay at Wyrmroost, the dragon sanctuary. Some of the worst experiences of her life had happened there. Dragons were enormous and virtually unstoppable. The last thing she wanted to do was become their most wanted enemy. Excerpted from Dragonwatch by Brandon Mull All rights reserved by the original copyright owners.
